Green building practices and seamless architecture are featured in our second phase of involvement with this residence. This addition to the rear of the residence created a roomy and elegant new office with bonus loft space above. In addition to blending perfectly with the existing architecture, this project also incorporated many sustainable construction features, such as recycled lumber in the floor structure, reused brick veneerfrom on site demolition, "Trex" recycled content decking material, high R-value foam insulation, highly efficient low-E double-glazed windows, and a 3.5 kW solar photovoltaic array to offset the entire annual electric bill. The interior design features custom designed desks, moldings, and cabinetry, including a specially designed hide-away ladder to the loft above.
