Meet the Team

Andrew Young and Steve Borlik met while attending Cal-Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA where they received their Bachelors of Architecture in 1986. They began their business together in 1988, providing design and drawing services to homeowners on the Peninsula.

Andrew Young

Principal Architect
Co-Founder, CEO

Andrew founded Young and Borlik in 1989 and currently serves as Principal Architect and CEO.

Andrew began his architectural practice in 1987 with a new home in the Redwood City Hills, which he designed while still in college. He began his business by satisfying the needs of a diverse group of homeowners and builders, always putting the highest priority on client needs in function and design. Andrew enjoys creative design, combining a client’s wish list, existing conditions and ordinances to resolve the three-dimensional puzzle of brilliant architecture. In his free time, Andrew enjoys getaways to the mountains, skiing, boating and sailing with his family.

Steve Borlik

Principal Architect
Co-Founder, President

Steve founded Young and Borlik in 1989 and currently serves as Principal Architect and President of the firm. 

Steve’s architectural interests include creative problem-solving and refined construction detailing for custom residential projects. This includes everything from minor interior remodels to multi-building estate properties. He provides full service design and detailed support from project conception through completion. Steve is experienced in all aspects of approvals, permits, detailing and construction administration.

In his free time, Steve volunteers with the Boy Scouts and enjoys auto racing, mountain biking and backpacking.

Daniel Rhoads

Director of Operations & Technology

Dan has been with Young & Borlik Architects for over 20 years and serves as Director for the firm.

As a project architect, Dan's daily roles include design and development, client relations, City interactions, and project management from start to finish. His residential project experience covers a deep range within both remodeling and new construction. His commercial project experience includes tenant improvements and new construction for a range of business types. In his free time, Dan enjoys biking, swimming and building Legos with his sons.

Christina Stidham

Project Manager

Returning to the West Coast, Christina joined the Young and Borlik team in 2007. She plays an instrumental role in project development and is committed to our clients. Her caring nature and design background ensures a quality design solution. She has been instrumental in creating designs and construction drawings for large and small projects alike. Christina is an avid painter and enjoys taking advantage of all that Northern California has to offer.

Jackie Terrell


Originally from Texas, Jackie started with Young and Borlik in 2006 and interned for two years prior to completing her Bachelors in City and Regional Planning at Cal Poly. She performs project management, client-city-contractor coordination, drafting, and detailing. As a project designer, she crafts Photoshop renderings from schematic drawings, and creates 3D renderings and animations. Jackie enjoys art, hand sketching, sculpting, running, traveling, and adventuring.

Jenny Gasparini

Director of Office Operations

Since retiring as a forth grade school teacher in 1994, Jenny has managed the business operations of Young and Borlik Architects. Her responsibilities include accounting (tax, property, payroll, accounts), human resources, consultant coordination and corporate reporting.  Jenny provides administrative support to the organization’s principals, communicating with clients and coordinating with fellow employees. 

Jenny fills her spare time with taking care of four kids and a husband, entertaining, and experimenting in the kitchen. She enjoys Crossfit, Bikram Yoga, running, spinning, skiing and anything fitness oriented.

Sara Ameri


Having studied architecture and urban design back in Iran, Sara joined Young and Borlik Architects as an entry level architect in 2015. Her responsibilities range from field survey of projects to architectural design and drafting along with city correspondence assistance. In her free time, Sara enjoys discovering the world through traveling to different places as well as diving into mystical contexts of old and modern eras.

Omar Haque


Omar started working with Young and Borlik Architects in 2015 after having spent the previous six years studying and working in Los Angeles. He has experience working in residential architecture firms as well as art galleries. Omar is involved with design, drafting, detailing, and consultant coordination on all project scales. In his free time, Omar enjoys drawing, rock climbing, and playing guitar.

Twinkal Parmar


Twinkal joined Young and Borlik in 2017, having one year experience in industrial, commercial, and site development projects. She completed her undergraduate education in India; from early life her interest is in building designs. She worked on residential projects back in India which brings her to this firm.

Twinkal shares responsibility of designing, drafting, site survey, correspondence with planning department working with team as well as individually. She is detail oriented and has good handling on designing. In her spare time, she likes to travel and explore different places. Also, she like to meet new people and spent time with family.

Calvin Smith

Calvin joined Young and Borlik in 2016 after working for a firm in Monterey County. With two years experience in educational, industrial, and commercial design, he continues his love for design and pursuit of his childhood dream of becoming a residential architect at Young and Borlik. Calvin enjoys working on every bit of the design process, from creating 3D computer models and animations to construction documents. If you can’t find him at the office, you may find him backpacking the wilderness, working out at the local gym, or raising the roof on the dance floor.

Natalie Paolercio


Natalie joined Young & Borlik Architects in 2017 after studying in Los Angeles. She has a background in residential architecture, construction, and restoration. Her responsibilities include site surveying, collaborating in design, and drafting projects. In her free time, Natalie enjoys drawing, painting, and building furniture.

Julia Wagenfehr

Junior Designer/Drafter

Julia joined Young and Borlik Architects in 2018 after studying at Stanford University. She has a background in green design, energy efficiency, mid-size projects on university campuses, and German architecture. Julia has been interested in architecture from a young age, admiring that the profession combines both technical and creative aspects. In her free time, Julia’s interests include running, yoga, sketching, and traveling to new places.
